Key Freight Transportation Challenges in 2022
Despite the logistic challenges created by the back-to-normality process, 2021 was a year of growth and recovery in the freight transportation market. What challenges can we expect in 2021?
Availability
The lack of drivers will probably be an ongoing issue all along 2022, and we should worry about the possible disruptions in the supply chain that it can cause. The best way to face this situation is to get creative in the driver attraction and hiring process.
Another thing that we must have in mind is the supply chain disruptions caused by the lack of microchips and the high rates of producer goods that will keep blocking the vehicle production and rising costs and delays. This will be a problem at least during the first half of 2022.
Offer and demand
One thing that will be different in 2022 is that carriers and 3PL should pay attention to consumption tendencies. Even though vaccination is going forward and normality is coming back, there are fewer probabilities to consumption patterns to go back to how they were before the pandemic.
Economic forecasts mention that the freight volume will remain the same in 2022 and that it could even go up by 10%. This means that there will be even more business opportunities and that everyone must be ready to take care of them.
Climate conditions
Due to the increase in climate events intensity, each year we must be prepared for supply chain disruptions and the impact on market volatility.
In hurricane season and when severe climate conditions damage the infrastructure and cause the stagnation and detour of the load, you need to take into consideration that the delivery times may increase and that you could face another problem.
We want to help you face the challenges that this new year sets. The objective is to have a logistical infrastructure that reduces the environmental impact and that eases the adaptation of carriers, forwarders, and 3PL to the economic challenges they face.
